Driver Hits Traffic Signal, Backs Into Another Car Off Route 80 In Hackensack

A collision off Route 80 in Hackensack involving two vehicles left one driver hospitalized with minor injuries Tuesday morning, Nov. 12, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 8:45 a.m., when a Kia sedan driven by a 35-year-old East Rutherford woman struck a traffic signal, which fell on top of the vehicle, according to Hackensack Police Chief Michael Antista.

The Kia then backed into a Toyota SUV driven by a 77-year-old woman from Ridgefield Park, Antista said.

The Kia driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

No arrests or summonses have been issued at this time, Chief Antista said.
